If you've never disassembled typical all in one unit... be very aware that they are true PIA. I partially stripped down a long serving Canon MP600r, which had finally generated a pretty well death knell error code; after about 10yrs or so of trouble free use. There came a point where it was clearly not really designed to be taken apart - unless you were fully factory trained. The internal connections were extremely fragile, tangled and easily disconnected - leaving you wondering where they belonged. I gave up - and I don't quite easily. The likely-hood of a successful repair was low to start with - and a chat with a Canon tech confirmed that likely the printer had reached the end of the road; and also they seldom actually fully serviced/repaired them. Invariably they were simply replaced (if under warranty) or else you got another unit returned to you - for a reasonable repair fee - not knowing that it was likely a new one, or one that had had only a minor repair event...
