Dec 06, 2008 I then realized that the firewire-800 port that's on the MacBook Pro isn't good for the firewire cable I have. My old cable - which I successfully used to transfer footage from HV20 to a windows PC - has 4 pins, and the MacBook Pro firewire-800 port has 9 pins. It stopped after about 3 seconds. The canon people say it is the mac software. I was able to import the hv20 into my old imovie o4. I just upgraded to leopard and ilife08; i downloaded all the upgrades. My friend, who has a macbook pro and tiger os, and ilife 08, was also not able to import from my hv20.
I just tried to transfer my first recordings from my Canon HV20 to my Mac G5....I have all Canon camera's, a Flip video recorder and several other devices that all are recognized but the camcorder does not register with the Mac. I installed the software that came with it but during the installation I kept getting that the software was already installed. I am assuming that is because of all the other canon products I have. I also went to the Canon site to make sure I got the latest and greatest driver/software and downloaded that, still, no recognition. I am using the USB cable that came with the camera and it works with the other Canon's. Does anyone have any suggestions?
